Biography
I am Dr. Soumya Paul. Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher at Purdue University. I have started my research under the guidance of Prof. Shelley Claridge. I completed my Ph.D. at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata (IISER Kolkata) in the Department of Chemical Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Priyadarsi De (PI) and Prof. Arindam Mukherjee (co-PI). I also pursued my BS-MS degree program (a 5-year course) at IISER Kolkata, where I specialized in chemical sciences and developed an interest in polymer sciences. In 2019, I qualified for the CSIR UGC NET. In 2020, I received my BS-MS degree and rejoined IISER Kolkata as a Ph.D. student, working again under the supervision of Prof. Priyadarsi De and Prof. Arindam Mukherjee. My research focuses primarily on the development of polymeric nitric oxide donors for various biomedical applications and understanding their nitric oxide releasing mechanisms. In 2021, I was awarded the prestigious Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF).
“I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”
― Albert Einstein
